Felix Rojas began his professional writing career with The Family Repertory Company (The Family) in the mid-1980s. With The Family, Rojas had two Off-Broadway showcases, From The Mind Of Cheo and Hotel Presedential. He traveled to Cuba and Spain with The Family as writer/stage manager/production manager. After a third showcase of his play Mandance in the East Village, New York, Rojas took a sixteen-year hiatus from the industry. He moved out of New York City and focused on raising two sons.
In 2009, after being introduced to a new script-writing program by his younger son, Nick, Felix Rojas began writing again. In a couple of weeks, he finished his first play called Joy’s Chaos, which gradually became GROWING UP GONZALES. The play opened in New York City in 2011 for a four-week showcase that turned into a two-year run.
Since the opening of GROWING UP GONZALES, Rojas has written and produced, Soy Chris, a one-act play; Papi’s Promise, a feature film; and a play with music, El Conde y La Condesa co-written with Cita Rodriguez. Rojas has several films and pilots for television in-the- waiting. He is the Executive Artistic Director of a non-profit theater company called Reel Players and Poet’s Club.
