But when a racist incident involving the Puerto Rican flag makes headlines, Andrés grapples with tough questions. In the process, he gains a deeper understanding of his heritage and the importance of speaking up for what's right.

Inspired by actual events in East Harlem, New York in 1969, the story centers on the activities of area residents and members of the Young Lords Organization to make positive community changes.
When the city's sanitation trucks did not haul away the street garbage, the neighborhood was overwhelmed with trash and sickening smells. Young Lords and community members mobilize to sweep the streets. Vicki, and her older sister, Valentina, join them. “You’re never too young to make a difference!” they say and discover they too can help change the world.
